Turtle Nesting Beach

Playa Junquillal is a turtle nesting beach for Olive Ridley, Black sea, and Hawksbill turtles. Our local sea turtle stewards and volunteer students at Verdiazul help restore the life cycle of native sea turtles by mitigating climate change, raising awareness and patroling local beaches looking for traces of nesting sites. With a little bit of luck you may witness sea turtles coming to nest right in front of Punta Paraiso! Schedule a time to  meet with Verdiazul to be a part of a baby turtle release below. Nandamojo Estuary

Punta Paraiso borders the Nandamojo Estuary Area of Conservation. The Nandamojo River Basin is a haven for hundreds of migratory species of tropical birds, a habitat for howler monkeys, and a perfect nesting site for three different endangered sea turtles.
